Community Service Officers
In August of 2004, the Kutztown Borough Police Department combined the pre-existing civilian positions of Parking Enforcement Officer and Crossing Guard into the position of Community Service Officer. Community Service Officers are also authorized to direct traffic at community events, to supplement the police officers and area fire police, and to respond and handle parking complaints.
Criminal History Repository
The Kutztown Borough Police Department maintains criminal history record information on all individuals who have been arrested by the Kutztown Borough Police Department for a crime and subsequently fingerprinted as a result of such arrest.
On-Street Person with Disability Parking
On April 30, 2007, Kutztown Borough Council approved legislation establishing a process for residents to make application for an On-Street Person With Disability Parking Space.
Open Records Request
As of January 01, 2009 the Kutztown Borough Police Department will comply with the new Open Records Act. This act does provide various restrictions when it deals with complaints relating to Criminal Investigations. Listed in the link above are the forms, documents, other various materials, and records protected under the Criminal Investigation exception. Please read each of the exceptions carefully prior to filing a Uniform Right to Know Form.
Pharmaceutical/Medication Drop Box Program
A Pharmaceutical/Medication Drop Box is located on the second floor of the Kutztown Municipal Building across from the customer service counter. Unused or unwanted medication can be disposed of at this secure location, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Safe Trade Exchange Zone
Kutztown Police has an “Exchange Zone,” consisting of two marked parking spaces in the lot in front of the Borough Hall at 45 Railroad Street. The Exchange Zone is well lit and has 24 hour video recording (not monitored). We encourage the community to utilize this location for child custody exchanges, Internet purchases, or other uses, in order to feel safe in their interactions.
